Western United goalkeeper Ryan Scott has earned Save of Matchweek 19 honours from John Kosmina, for a save down low to his right to keep Brisbane Roar defender Macaulay Gillesphey off the scoresheet.
It was just one of many top-drawer saves Scott produced before conceding two late goals against the Roar at Moreton Daily Stadium.
Gillesphey looked to have Scott beaten with a header from a corner routine angled low toward the bottom-left corner early in the first half of the Matchweek 19 contest. The ball skimmed toward goal off the muddy surface but Scott got a glove on top of the ball to push it past the post.
“My Save of the Week is Ryan Scott’s effort against the Macaulay Gillesphey header for Western United against Brisbane Roar on Wednesday night,” Kosmina said.
“It was a crucial save at a crucial time of the game – it kept his team alive.
“It was pure instinct and pure reflexes, no time to think, and a wonderful save.”
