Perth Glory forward Joel Chianese scored the Goal of Matchweek 20 with a well-worked move off the left wing and a tidy finish past Western United goalkeeper Ryan Scott in his side’s 3-0 win on Wednesday, May 12.
Chianese came off the bench with Perth leading 2-0, and put the result beyond doubt with a classy finish in the 77th minute.
The Glory substitute combined with Carlo Armiento, who joined him in coming off the bench to good effect in the second half. Chianese gathered the ball on the left wing and sized up Western United’s Dylan Pierias, who was back-pedalling in an attempt to block the space.
Victor Sánchez closed in to make it a two-on-one, but Chianese skipped past them both, sliding the ball into the feet of Armiento. The young Glory attacker fed the ball back into Chianese’s path as he drove across the tip of the 18-yard-box, before sliding a neat curling shot past Scott into the right-hand side of goal.
