Friday football preview: May 14 – Macarthur FC v Melbourne Victory

Macarthur FC can take another step toward securing an A-League finals berth at their first attempt should they defeat Melbourne Victory in Friday night football.

The Bulls enter the clash with Victory in fifth position on the ladder and would leapfrog Adelaide United, Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners into second if they landed three points against the struggling Melbourne outfit.

That will be the outcome boss Ante Milicic has in mind as he prepares to lead his charges against a Victory team Macarthur ousted 2-1 on Thursday 6 May courtesy of Markel Susaeta and James Meredith strikes.

Victory are playing for pride only but have improved following the dismissal of coach Grant Brebner on April 17.

Since that 7-0 defeat to Melbourne City, Victory have beaten Western Sydney Wanderers (5-4), drawn with Central Coast Mariners (1-1) and been narrowly beaten by Sydney (1-0), Macarthur and Perth Glory (both 2-1).
