Opta stats

  • The Newcastle Jets will be looking to defeat the Central Coast Mariners multiple times in a single A-League Men season for the first time since 2018/19 (W2, L1) after picking up a 2-1 win in their first meeting of the 2022/23 campaign earlier this month.
  • The Central Coast Mariners have won only two of their last nine A-League Men games against the Newcastle Jets at Industree Group Stadium (D2, L5) and have won only one of their last three games at the venue overall (L2).
  • The Newcastle Jets have lost four of their last five games in the A-League Men (W1) with their only competition points in that time coming in a 2-1 win over the Central Coast Mariners (11 December 2022); they had won three of their five games prior to that term (D1, L1).
  • The Newcastle Jets have a passing accuracy of 84% in the 2022/23 A-League Men season, the second-highest rate of any team in the competition; it’s the second straight season they’ve had a rate of 80% or higher after only managing to do so once in their nine campaigns prior.
  • The Central Coast Mariners have scored eight goals via substituted players this A-League Men campaign, more than any other team in the competition; the Newcastle Jets are one of three teams yet to score a goal via a substitute (also Melbourne City FC, Western Sydney Wanderers FC).
  • Central Coast Mariners’ Samuel Silvera (+2.5) is one of only three players to have outperformed their Expected Goals by two or more this season; he has scored three goals with just 0.5 xG thus far.
  • Jason Cummings (Central Coast Mariners) has scored four goals in his three A-League Men games against the Newcastle Jets, finding the back of the net at least once in each of those games; he’s scored one goal every 51 minutes in games between the Mariners and Jets, the most frequent of any player in the history of the fixture (min. 100 minutes played).
  • Mark Natta (Newcastle Jets) has blocked 10 shots in the 2022/23 A-League Men season, the second-most of any player in the competition and just two shy of league-leader Alexandar Popovic (12).
