Melbourne City parted ways with midfielder Taras Gomulka via mutual contract termination, paving the way for the young midfielder to sign with Brisbane Roar.
Gomulka arrives in Queensland with 39 league appearances to his name split across stints at City and Adelaide United.
Gomulka joined City from Adelaide United in September 2020 and spent almost three seasons at the club, making 43 appearances in all competitions – including starting in all six matches during their maiden AFC Champions League campaign last year.
The 21-year-old midfielder also played a role in the side that won back-to-back Premierships and the 2021 Isuzu UTE A-League Championship under former coach Patrick Kisnorbo.
Upon arrival at the Roar, Gomulka expressed his delight at joining a club “with great ambition.”
“I’m buzzing to join Brisbane Roar,” Gomulka said.
“Brisbane Roar is a club with great ambition, wanting to achieve success, which I hope I can help bring them.”
“The Roar have a great drive to achieve success. They’re giving young talent opportunities, allowing them to express themselves.”
Gomulka is available for selection for the Roar this weekend, with his new side taking onAdelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.
Roar boss Warren Moon added: “(Taras) is one of the brightest young talents in the A-League, and we’re excited to be welcoming him to Brisbane.
“He’s a player that has got great passing rate, he’s got the ability to get around the park. And he’s strong defensively.”
“He comes to the club knowing he’s got a great opportunity to play, and take his game to the next level, and I believe we can help him do that.”
Gomulka’s arrival was announced on Monday afternoon after Brisbane elevated Ayom Majok and James Nikolovski off of scholarship contracts and onto senior deals.
