367 and counting: The remarkable record shared by two veterans making A-Leagues history together

Nikolai Topor-Stanley v Leigh Broxham: it’s the battle for supremacy on the Isuzu UTE A-League’s all-time appearance leaderboard, set to come to a head this weekend.

The pair of veteran defenders are locked on 376 A-League Men appearances apiece; Topor-Stanley went out on his own last season as the all-time appearance record holder, eclipsing Andrew Durante’s total of 358.

But, Broxham has never been far behind – and with Topor-Stanley sidelined over the last four weeks through injury, the Victory stalwart has managed to close the gap at the top of the leaderboard.

The magic number is 376 for these two A-Leagues legends, who share top spot on the leaderboard heading into Round 19 of the A-League Men season.

Topor-Stanley has been named in Western United’s squad for this weekend’s clash with Perth, returning just in time to try and keep his share of the record.

But whether Broxham manages to move past Topor-Stanley into top spot this weekend, one thing is for sure: this is a battle set to rage on and on through the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

Both Western and Victory play their respective Round 19 fixtures on Saturday afternoon, with Victory travelling to face Sydney FC in the Big Blue following Western’s home clash against Perth.
