Zadkovich: Jets won’t hold anything back

Ruben Zadkovich says the Jets will not hold anything back when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night.

Newcastle Jets captain Ruben Zadkovich says the Jets will not hold anything back when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers at Hunter Stadium on Saturday night.

Zadkovich said the Jets planned to take the match to last season-s Premiers Plate winners in front of what is expected to be a parochial Novocastrian crowd.

“We-ve got the players that can hurt any team in this league and I think we-ve shown that already,” Zadkovich said.

“With the right movement and the right passing we have players that can do some damage.

“Adam Taggart has been doing fantastic and Nathan Burns- form has been brilliant, so we-re just going to go out there and try and attack at home and really get our fans on side and into the game.”

Zadkovich said the Jets deserved to be in third place on the Hyundai A-League ladder and would take plenty of confidence into Saturday night-s fixture following their recent run of form, which has seen them notch four wins in their last five outings.

“We don-t really care too much about what everyone else is saying,” Zadkovich said.

“We know we-re the real deal because we-ve been working so hard all through pre-season and in the games we-ve been working really hard for each other and that-s why we-re getting the results.

“I don-t think that it-s a fluke and this is such a tough league that I think that any win is important.

“To get three in a row was a really good effort, but then we went down to Sydney and had a bit of wake up call there and didn-t play very well.

“Last week we were looking for a reaction down in Melbourne and we definitely got that, so now we-re going into this game with a lot of confidence.”

Zadkovich said it is crucial that the Jets stick to their game plan and the methods of play that have been working well for them recently against the Wanderers.

“We haven-t focused too much on what they do, we-re trying to focus more on what we want to do,” Zadkovich said.

“We-re at home and we want to dictate the game, so it-s going to be a very interesting clash of styles.

“We-ll try and play the way we played last week, and that-s to pass, to get in good positions in midfield, to change the point of attack and get our attacking players on the ball in the front third.

“Even in tough games like tomorrow, we-re going to have to stick to what we-ve been doing, stick to our game plan and be patient.”
