Young Socceroos discover their opponents for 2025 U20 Asian Cup

The Subway Young Socceroos have been drawn against hosts China, Qatar and Kyrgyz Republic at the 2025 AFC Under-Asian Cup.

Australia discovered their fate on Thursday, with the Young Socceroos set to face the trio in Group A, starting in China in February.

The Young Socceroos – beaten in the 2010 Asian Cup final – qualified for the tournament as one of the best runners-up in September.

Trevor Morgan’s side, boasting 19 rising stars from the Isuzu UTE A-League in their 23-player squad for qualifying, finished level with Saudi Arabia on 10 points through four games, but adrift on goal difference.

Australia won three of their fixtures to reach the major tournament, losing once.

Adelaide United pair Luka Jovanovic and Panagiotis Kikianis scored two goals apiece in qualifying, while Western Sydney Wanderers’ Alexander Badolato also found the back of the net.
