The CommBank Young Matildas have booked their spot at the 2026 AFC Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup following a convincing 3-0 qualifying win over Chinese Taipei in Tajikistan.
In need of a top-two finish in Group C to qualify for the continental tournament, the Young Matildas made light work of their three group games, defeating Tajikistan 14-0, Palestine 3-0, and Chinese Taipei 3-0 in their third and final group fixture on Sunday night.

Sydney FC recruit Skye Halmarick was at the double against Chinese Taipei, taking her goal tally to six across the three-game qualification schedule. Halmarick’s brace came after an own goal off a dangerous cross from Western Sydney Wanderers rising star Talia Younis.

The 3-0 win confirmed a first-place finish for Australia in Group C, with a formidable record of three wins from three games, with 20 goals scored and zero conceded.
The Young Matildas, led by former Perth Glory head coach Alex Epakis, will now turn their attention to preparations for the Under-20 Women’s Asian Cup set to be held in Thailand in April, 2026.
