Sydney FC will be looking to pounce on the next team that stand in their way
Sydney v Perth Glory
After their shock loss to the Jets in Week 4, Sydney FC will be looking to pounce on the next team that stand in their way, and this week it happens to be the 4th placed Perth Glory!
As a result of last week-s surprise defeat to the Jets, Sydney has given up their first place spot on the ladder to the Brisbane Roar. Granted however, Sydney have played one less game than Brisbane at this stage.
It was a slight drop in performance and lack of precision in the final third, which proved to be the cause for Sydney failing to clench the deserved three points from Newcastle.
Defender Danielle Brogan displayed a solid performance in the back line, improving her chances in her mission to gain a spot in the national team.
The Sky Blues have a point to prove this Saturday, but will have to prove it against a self-assured Perth Glory, who are starting to build their own momentum!
Thanks to an early goal from Glory defender Jaymee Gibbons, Perth secured the much needed 1-0 win over the Jets last week.
The quiet achievers are sitting in 4th place heading into Week 6, a position in which the team may have been realistically hoping to achieve, when they set goals for the team earlier in this year.
Perth Glory could arguably be one of the dark horses to take out this season-s Westfield W-League, but it will depend on their ‘big guns- and how they step up to the challenge in leading their team to victory week after week.
Their quest to stay in the top four starts against the mighty Sydney FC this week, and a win for the Glory would be crucial to keeping their aspirations alive!
