Friday night’s game at Hindmarsh will feature the imposing League leaders and Adelaide
Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar
Friday night’s game at Hindmarsh Stadium will feature a clash between the imposing League leaders, Brisbane Roar, and the dejected last placed Adelaide United.
Make no mistake, this unforgiving Roar outfit will not be looking to take it easy on the Lady Reds as they hope to solidify and build on their first place position at the top of the ladder!
Last week Westfield W-League fans were spoilt once again with a very entertaining TV match, which featured Brisbane Roar-s dominating 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
Tameka Butt has strongly put her hand up in hope for Westfield Matildas squad selection to participate in next years FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
Butt displayed an inspiring performance contributing two spectacular goals in the first half. One goal in particular featured Butt taking on two players in the box to neatly finish on goal with complete poise.
The Roar showcased their outstanding talent and depth during the match, with 18-year-old substitute Emily Gielnik, securing the win for her team, smashing home the fourth goal in the 81st minute.
At this point in the season, bookies would be handing out very short odds for League favourites, the Roar, to take out this years Westfield W-League title, in contrast with Adelaide United’s potentially long odds.
The Lady Reds would be scratching their heads as to why this season hasn’t been going to plan as they sit in last place, having scored only one goal.
United were defeated once again last week, going down to Canberra United 4-0. Adelaide were saved from further humiliation as the game was abandoned after 68 minutes due to bad weather.
It-s a shame the Lady Reds still find themselves in this situation, as the gap between winning and losing for them is extremely minuscule and could be set right by scoring a couple of early goals.
Can The Lady Reds stay in the race for a place in the final four or will the Roar crush the hopes of all Reds fans with a win on Friday?
