Who is the Hyundai A-League’s assist king?

The Hyundai A-League has been blessed this season with a number of goalscorers and creators emerging as standout stars of Australian football.

Bobo and Ross McCormack are fighting a fascinating race for the golden boot, but who’s the competition’s assist king?

Check out the leaders and view the full top 10 below.

1. Leroy George (10 assists)

He faces some stiff competition, but Leroy George is making a compelling case to be considered the signing of the season.

The former Eredivisie winger has immediately adapted to life at Melbourne Victory, impressing with his pace, ability on the ball and poise in attacking areas.

Kevin Muscat is certainly appreciative of the 30-year-old, who boasts almost twice as many assists as anyone else.

2. Andrew Nabbout (6 assists)

Being part of an improved team might mean some of the spotlight has shifted away from him but that shouldn’t diminish the recognition of Andrew Nabbout.

The Newcastle forward has carried on from where he left off last season, scoring seven goals to go with his five assists.

Often plugging a hole at the point of the attack, Nabbout’s knack of contributing in front of goal shows just how important he is to the Jets.

3. Roy Krishna, Adrian Mierzejewski, Bobo, Dimitri Petratos (tied; 5 assists)

It’s perhaps surprising to see Roy Krishna and Bobo among the four players tied for third given their reputations as more natural scorers rather than providers.

Adrian Mierzejewski and Dimitri Petratos – both well in contention for Johnny Warren Medal honours – have also combined the two roles with aplomb.

Sydney man Mierzejewski has eight goals to go with his five assists, while Newcastle playmaker Petratos has been on target six times.
