Claire Coelho’s terrific tip off the bar to keep Adelaide United defender Maruschka Waldus off the scoresheet has earned the Newcastle Jets ‘keeper Save of Round 10 honours.
The second-half stop came from a corner into the box which Waldus enjoyed a free leap toward without a Jets player in sight to mark the imposing defender.
The headed attempt was dispatched from near the penalty spot and although there was some distance to travel Waldus directed it on goal, applying enough power to send the ball floating over Coelho as it shaped to drop over the goal line.
But Coelho leapt back to meet the ball and tipped it off the bar with a strong right glove; the ball dropped back into the danger zone but Newcastle cleared, as Waldus retreated to the backline without a goal to her name.
