Westfield W-League Golden Boot update: US star out in front

The goals continued to flow in Round 6 of the Westfield W-League, with a couple of Perth Glory stars continuing to lead the way in the race for the Golden Boot.

Glory’s American import remains out in front despite shooting a blank last weekend but there’s a certain Westfield Matildas superstar breathing down her neck.

So who are the sharpest strikers in the Westfield W-League? We take a look.

7 goals: Rachel Hill (Perth Glory Women)

She didn’t find the back of the net this round, but the American striker’s fine form continues to keep her in the top spot, notching an assist in Glory’s latest win over the Wanderers.

5 goals: Samantha Kerr (Perth Glory Women)

The Westfield Matildas star showed off her stunning form, fresh from being named the AFC Women’s Player of the Year last week.

Kerr scored Glory’s only goal in their win against the Wanderers that sent her side three points clear atop the Westfield W-League.

Sam Kerr

4 goals: Katie Stengel (Newcastle Jets Women), Makenzy Doniak (Adelaide United Women)

American forward Makenzy Doniak wasn’t on the scoresheet in her side’s draw with Melbourne City on the weekend, but her fantastic hat-trick against Glory in the season opener keeps her on four goals for the season.

Fellow American, Katie Stengel also stayed on four goals after the Jets’ had a bye this week.

Doniak

3 goals: Michelle Heyman (Canberra United Women), Kylie Ledbrook (Sydney FC Women), Larissa Crummer (Melbourne City FC Women), Natasha Dowie (Melbourne Victory Women)

Michelle Heyman wasn’t able to add to her all-time record of W-League goals this week after her side’s loss to Brisbane Roar, staying on three goals.

Sydney FC midfielder Kylie Ledbrook and Melbourne Victory striker Natasha Dowie both had three shots in their wins over the weekend but neither were able to hit the scoresheet.
