With the Westfield Matildas much anticipated friendlies against China fast approaching, our Australian stars are desperate to find form in the Westfield W-League.
Here’s a wrap of how some of Australia’s best performed in Round 3.
CLARE POLKINGHORNE
The Matildas veteran demonstrated her vast experience at the back by helping her Brisbane outfit to their first clean sheet of the season in a gutsy 1-0 away win over the Wanderers.
Wearing the captain’s armband, Polkinghorne was able to steer her side to their second victory of the season.
LISA DE VANNA
With her stunner against Brazil in Penrith still fresh in everyone’s minds, the Matildas co-captain had another solid outing for Sydney FC against Canberra United.
Though unable to prevent a third straight defeat, De Vanna was her usual industrious self winning the first of two penalties for the Sky Blues.
MICHELLE HEYMAN
Forced to stay on the sidelines for the Brazil matches as she recovered from injury, the United striker showed she’s more than ready to shine in national colours once more.
The 29-year-old, with over 50 Westfield Matildas caps to her name, netted an impressive double as Canberra came from behind to sink Sydney 3-2.
KYAH SIMON
Just like Heyman, Simon didn’t get to feature against Brazil through injury but staked her claim for some game time against China with a well taken goal inside five minutes against Newcastle.
That’s her second strike in three games for her new City side with the attacker’s eye for goal as sharp as ever.
LARISSA CRUMMER
The 21-year-old has put her name firmly in the ring for another stint with the Westfield Matildas after netting a composed double against the Jets.
With a passing accuracy of 89.7 percent, Crummer helped City seize control of the game against Newcastle scoring with two of her three shots of the game.
STEPH CATLEY
It was a star performance from the defender who led from the back by creating a number of chances and notching up one assist against the Jets.
With a game high 97 touches, two clearances and a passing accuracy 84.4 percent, the Westfield Matildas backline will be lucky to have Catley.
