23 July 2010 : Clare Polkinghorne played for 15 minutes as her team, the Washington Freedom Futures went down 3-2 on penalties to Charlotte Lady Eagles. With the score at the end of 90 minutes held at 1-1 the teams could still not be separated at the end of extra-time with the scoreboard reading 2-2. Washington were unable to stop the Lady Eagles from equalizing twice after taking the lead on two occasions.
24 July 2010 : Ottawa Fury won their match of their finals series against Chicago Red Eleven with a 2-0 final score. Tameka Butt and Aivi Luik featured for the Fury. Fury progressed to the Final where they faced Buffalo Flash but unfortunately, Fury were beaten 1-0 the following day in the final by the Buffalo Flash.
In the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Playoffs, Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves defeated Boston Aztec U-23 , 2-1 in extra time. Leah Blayney featured for the Aztec Reserves. The win sent them into the final.
The WPSL Eastern Final was also a tight affair with the Aztec reserves featuring Leah Blayney coming away with another extra time win. The Final score was 2-1. Blayney was extremely influential in the match, causing havoc up front and providing an assist.
With the win, the Aztecs will now be travelling to Dallas, Texas to feature in the WPSL Final Four. They now face a genuine opportunity to win their first WPSL national championship.
