Western United retain two local products, incl. foundation player: ‘A big year for us’

Western United have re-signed local goalkeeping duo Alyssa Dall’Oste and Natalie Picak for the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

Dall’Oste and Picak’s return completes Western’s goalkeeper union after the arrival for star shot-stopper Chloe Lincoln from Canberra United this off-season.

A foundation player, Dall’Oste made eight appearances in 2023-24 after earning a starting position at stages of the campaign, while Picak arrived at Ironbark Fields as the NPLW VIC Goalkeeper of the Year last term.

It continues Western’s recent re-signing spree, having retained Melissa Taranto, Adriana Taranto and Julia Sardo.

Alyssa Dall’Oste

“Alyssa and Nat have both developed and grown in the West and we are extremely pleased to continue to give them opportunities to progress in our pathway,” said Western’s general manager of football Mal Impiombato.

“With Chloe Lincoln coming in alongside our two existing players, we are delighted to have three talented young goalkeepers to help led our team this season.”

A two-time NPLW VIC Goalkeeper of the Year, Dall’Oste joined Western from Calder United ahead of their inaugural Liberty A-League campaign in 2022-23.

The 23-year-old has played nine games for Western, who reached the Grand Final in their debut season before falling in the Elimination Final last term.

“This is going to be a big year for us as a team building on what we did last season. It wasn’t the ending that we all wanted, but that is going to drive us to push that extra bit to take it all the way this season,” Dall’Oste said.

“Having a taste of what it’s like at Ironbark last season was exciting. The atmosphere the fans created was electric and we could all feel the difference. I wait to feel that all season long.”

Natalie Picak

Picak added: “I’m honoured to return to Western United. I cannot wait to improve my skills and continue to increase my experience and knowledge of the game.

“Working with Tony (Belica) and a group of experience goalkeepers, I’m determined to keep developing my skills and I’m confident I’ll improve significantly.”
