Western United have signed defender Aimee Medwin for the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.
Medwin – the first Tasmanian to represent the club having signed a scholarship contract in 2022-23 – returns to Ironbark Fields after overcoming an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury last season.
After almost 12 months on the sidelines, the 25-year-old returned during the 2023-24 season and made eight appearances for Kat Smith’s side.
Medwin is now gearing up for her first full season with the Green and Black.
“I can’t wait to be out there for a full season with the girls and be able to compete for a spot
in the team,” she said.
“Last season was amazing for me coming back from my ACL and getting to be involved, but going into a full season with the club is going to be super special for me.
“Hopefully I can contribute to some amazing moments this season for the team, the club and the fans.”

Medwin’s renewal continues Western’s recent re-signing spree, having retained Melissa Taranto, Adriana Taranto, Julia Sardo, Alyssa Dall’Oste and Natalie Picak.
“Aimee did magnificently well to come back from her ACL rupture in such positive shape, and that only fills us with great confidence for the upcoming season,” said general manager of football Mal Impiombato.
“Even through challenging times in her career, Aimee has consistently upheld our club values and become a favourite among her peers and fans alike.
“It is fantastic to see Aimee return for a full campaign with us and I am very much looking forward to seeing her take big strides forward at Ironbark Fields this season.”
