Western Sydney Wanderers have today confirmed the appointment of Gary van Egmond as the club’s new head coach until the end of the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
The 60-year-old takes charge of the Wanderers following the club’s decision to sack head coach Alen Stajcic following a poor start to the season.
No stranger to the Isuzu UTE A-League, van Egmond will be flanked by assistants Milos Ninkovic and Damir Prodanovic and will take charge of this weekend’s home game against Perth Glory.

With just 12 points from 13 games the Wanderers opted to part ways with Stajcic, with last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle Jets his last game in charge.

Despite sitting last on the ladder the Wanderers problem have been in attack this season rather than in defence, with the club managing to score just 10 goals in 13 matches – the worst record in the competition.
In a bid to rectify their striking woes veteran Japanese striker Hiroshi Ibusuki was signed during the mid-season transfer window, with the former Adelaide United and Western United striker making his debut during that loss to the Jets.
