Sydney FC bounced back from Round 3’s Sydney derby defeat with a resounding 4-1 triumph over Newcastle Jets on Friday.

Milos Ninkovic and Adam Le Fondre led the rout for the Sky Blues, while Kosta Barbarouses scored his first Hyundai A-League goal for the club.

Western Sydney Wanderers 0-0 Brisbane Roar 

Western Sydney Wanderers and Brisbane Roar played out a tense 0-0 stalemate on Saturday afternoon.

The match was shaded by Robbie Fowler’s side, who were denied by a string of good stops from in-form Wanderers gloveman Daniel Lopar.

Melbourne City 3-2 Wellington Phoenix 

Melbourne City went top of the Hyundai A-League with a 3-2 win over Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.

Craig Noone’s 63rd minute penalty proved critical for Erick Mombaerts’ side, who had earlier trailed when Gary Hooper scored his first goal for Wellington.

Perth Glory 1-2 Central Coast Mariners

Central Coast Mariners shocked reigning Premiers Perth Glory 2-1 in the final match of Round 5 on Sunday.

Ivan Franjic hit back for Perth after Daniel De Silva’s opener, but teenage starlet Sam Silvera scored his first Hyundai A-League goal to earn Alen Stajcic’s side a rare away victory.
