Milan Duric scored again for the Mariners but Alen Stajcic’s side were pegged back by a second half penalty from Dimitri Petratos in Saturdays’ F3 derby stalemate.
Serbian maestro Duric brought the house down in Gosford with a brilliant volley early on, but Petratos gave Newcastle a share of the spoils from the spot after a controversial retake.

Melbourne City 2-1 Adelaide United
Jamie Maclaren was at the double for City as Erick Mombaerts’ men warmed up for their FFA Cup Final 2019 clash with Adelaide by beating the Reds 2-1 at AAMI Park on Sunday.
Caltex Socceroo star Maclaren scored twice in the space of four first half minutes, and although a resurgent Adelaide hit back through Riley McGree, City held on for their first win of the campaign.

Sydney FC 2-1 Wellington Phoenix
Rhyan Grant was the late hero for Sydney FC, as the reigning Champions survived an almighty scare from Wellington Phoenix in Sunday’s 2-1 win.
The Sky Blues broke the deadlock early through Brandon O’Neill, but Phoenix responded brilliantly and equalised via Mexican attacker Ulises Davila.
Fortunately for Steve Corica’s side, Australian international Grant popped up with an instinctively taken match-winner.
