Western Sydney boss Tony Popovic admitted frustration with Wanderers’ failure to convert a 2-0 lead into three points against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.
The visitors spurned a golden chance to reclaim their top six spot after coughing up a two-goal buffer to draw 2-2 in Auckland.

“We were comfortable at a stage there and we let Wellington back into the game,” Popovic said.
“Before the game a point is good away from home but after you’re leading 2-0 it’s disappointing.
“We had numerous opportunities, shots on goal, shots on target.
“Creating isn’t the issue. We shouldn’t look at that. We were up 2-0, even at 2-1 we had a penalty.”
Just moments after Gui Finkler halved the deficit, Western Sydney skipper Dimas had the chance to restore his side’s two-goal advantage from the spot.
The Spaniard’s meek effort was held by Glen Moss and proved to be a turning point as Roy Krishna soon headed the hosts level.
“We are getting punished for mistakes,” Popovic said.
“Wellington played well but they had two shots on target for the game and we concede two goals. That’s how it’s going for us at the moment.”
