Adelaide United have announced club legend and former captain Travis Dodd has returned to Coopers Stadium as an assistant coach for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season.
Dodd has joined Adelaide’s senior coaching team alongside assistant coach Mark Milligan to work under head coach Carl Veart; his role will include aiding the development of young players within the framework of the senior squad.
Dodd is an Adelaide great; the 44-year-old made 166 appearances as a player for the Reds, and scored 39 goals. He was the first Australian to score in the AFC Champions League and the first Indigenous player to represent the Subway Socceroos, having earned two international caps in his playing career.

After taking on his new role as an assistant, Dodd spoke of his pride in returning to Adelaide.
“I’m incredibly proud to be back at Adelaide United, the club that has always felt like home,” he said.
“This club means a lot to me, and I’m excited to work alongside Carl and Mark to help take the team forward and continue developing young local talent.
“I can’t wait to get started with Carl, Mark, the coaching staff, and the whole club, and give back to the fans who have supported me throughout my career.”
Dodd spent the past four years as senior head coach of Croydon FC in the NPL SA, and returns to Adelaide United to take on a role which club technical director Ernest Faber has described as the perfect fit for a Reds legend.
“Travis is a fantastic fit for the People’s Club,” Faber said. “Not only is he an up-and-coming coach, but he’s also someone who knows the DNA of Adelaide United inside out.
“His experience in local football and his connection with the community will be invaluable, especially as we focus on transitioning our NPL youth players into the first team.
“We’re delighted to have Travis back and are excited about the impact he will make,” Faber concluded.
