Remy Siemsen scored a dramatic stoppage time winner as Sydney FC twice came from behind to snatch a pulsating 3-2 victory over Melbourne City at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
The Sky Blues trailed on two separate occasions to Alanna Kennedy’s header and Larissa Crummer’s second half volley but responded both times through Kylie Ledbrook and Teresa Polias.
And their incredible fightback was complete when substitute Siemsen fired home Princess Ibini’s cross in the 91st minute to give the hosts their much-needed first points under new coach Ante Juric.
City, meanwhile, were left to contend with a heartbreaking second defeat in four matches that leaves them three points shy of leaders Brisbane Roar.
An action-packed match exploded into life near the close of an end-to-end first half as Kennedy headed the opener, before Ledbrook immediately responded by lobbing former Westfield Matildas goalkeeper Melissa Hudson in her first City appearance.
The goal rush continued within eight minutes of the restart, Crummer getting on the end of Rhali Dobson’s cross to restore the advantage
However, Sky Blues skipper Polias soon fired home from outside the area to set the stage for Siemsen’s last-gasp winner.
