Sydney FC have signed former Adelaide United centre-back Alexandar Popovic on loan from K League 1 outfit Gwangju FC.

Popovic returns to the Isuzu UTE A-League on loan until January, though Sydney have the option to buy the 22-year-old from his South Korean club at the conclusion of the temporary deal.

The talented Australian defender, who is eligible to play in the Sky Blues’ AFC Champions League 2 opener against Eastern SC on Thursday, departed Adelaide in January after two seasons with the Reds in the A-Leagues.
