Sydney FC sign former Youth team skipper

Sydney FC have secured the services of youngster Jacob Tratt on a one-year deal for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

20-year-old Tratt captained the Sydney FC side that lifted the Foxtel National Youth League trophy in 2014 and can play as a central defender or a right back.

The young Sutherland Sharks recruit who scored seven goals in last season’s PS4 NSW NPL Men’s 1 competition and two goals in the Westfield FFA Cup has impressed Head Coach Graham Arnold in training.

“Jacob has the potential to go on and become an excellent defender. He has a lot of strengths to his game and has shown us already this year he has the ability to be a part of our first team squad,” Arnold said.

“I look forward to seeing his development over the next 12 months.”

Tratt was ecstatic to have signed his first professional contract.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to have become part of the first team squad and I can’t wait to improve working under Arnie and alongside the boys,” he said.

“The step up will be big but I’m confident of making it and hopefully I can put some pressure on the defence and add some competition for places.

“I am so grateful for everyone that has helped me along this journey to get to where I am now, especially my family who have given me so much support and commitment.  It’s so rewarding to finally be able to give something back to them because they have worked so hard for me.”

Sydney FC are set to compete in the South Coast Football Challenge on Friday 18 September at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.
