Sydney FC are breathing a sigh of relief after confirmation Milos Ninkovic’s ankle injury isn’t as bad as first thought.
The Serbian playmaker hobbled off just before the hour mark of the Sky Blues’ 2-0 FFA Cup 2019 Round of 32 defeat to Brisbane Roar last Wednesday night.
At the time Ninkovic feared he had broken his ankle and was set for a long stint on the sidelines.
But those concerns were allayed on Monday as Sydney FC confirmed there was no break or ligament damage suffered by the two-time Championship-winner.

“I don’t know the exact injury but I was worried about it. At the moment when I felt the pain in the game I thought probably something broken because I couldn’t move my foot and that was scary to me,” admitted Ninkovic.
“I couldn’t feel my foot…it was like a dead foot and if you have this type of feeling it’s normally something bad.
“Thank God everything is fine. I thought maybe the season wasn’t over but I would be out two or three months which is a long time.
“Now it’s just a big bruise and I think in two or three days I will be alright.”
As the pictures below show, the 34-year-old began light training with Sydney FC’s medical staff at the club’s Macquarie Uni base on Monday.
Ninkovic will miss the club’s pre-season friendly against Wollongong Wolves on Wednesday night but should return to training by the end of this week.
