Sydney FC remain in the hunt for an unlikely Finals Series berth after a 91st-minute stunner from Princess Ibini sealed the Sky Blues a dramatic 1-0 win over Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With the game locked level at 0-0 heading into second-half stoppage time, both Sydney and Perth were on the brink of elimination from the Finals Series equation but Ibini’s top-corner rocket ensured the reigning Champions remained eligible for post-season football.

The Sky Blues have never missed a Finals Series in the Ninja A-League’s 17-year history and, although looking down and out midway through the season, have recorded five wins in their last six games to catapult themselves to within two points of sixth-placed Canberra United heading into the final round of the regular season.
Canberra face Wellington Phoenix on Sunday afternoon and could end Sydney’s season with a win against the ‘Nix; anything less than a three-point performance from Canberra will ensure Sydney’s push to breach the top six will continue into the final round of the season.
Brisbane Roar are also capable of ensuring Sydney FC will miss the Finals Series this weekend. The Roar are level on 25 points with Sydney but have a +6 goal difference compared to Sydney’s -5; Brisbane face Western Sydney Wanderers this weekend and, should they defeat the league’s bottom-placed side, will move three points ahead of Sydney with an insurmountable 11-goal difference over the Sky Blues.
