New Sydney FC coach Ian Crook has wasted no time stamping his authority on the club, axing Socceroos trio Shannon Cole, Scott Jamieson and Michael Beauchamp.
Sydney confirmed they had parted ways with the out-of-contract players on Thursday, three days after Crook was promoted from his role as youth team coach.
Jamieson is believed to be headed for A-League grand finalists Perth Glory while Cole and Beauchamp are searching for new clubs.
“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Shannon, Scott and Michael for their service to Sydney FC,” Sydney football manager Gary Cole said.
“After a number of discussions in recent days, we feel Sydney FC is moving in a new direction and an injection of fresh faces with different skills is what is required to take the club forward.
“On behalf of everyone at Sydney FC, I’d like to wish Shannon, Michael and Scott every success in the future.”
Jamieson, who had stints with Bolton Wanderers in England and Adelaide United before joining Sydney in 2010, tweeted on Wednesday: “I am heading to the west of Australia.”
The 23-year-old midfielder has made two appearances for Australia and was crowned A-League young player of the year in 2009.
Cole, 27, was signed from New South Wales Premier League outfit Sydney Olympic in 2008 and made his international debut for the Socceroos less than two years later.
Beauchamp, 31, spent four years abroad, most notably with German side Nuremberg, before returning to the Hyundai A-League for seasons with Melbourne Heart and then Sydney.
The trio join the likes of Bruno Cazarine, Juho Makela, Karol Kisel and Liam Reddy already out the door after Sydney were knocked out in the first week of the A-League finals in March.
