Western Sydney Wanderers stars Zac Sapsford and Brandon Borrello produced a goal celebration that will become A-Leagues folklore in the Sydney Derby on Saturday night.
Sapsford, wearing a protective face mask, scored an equaliser against his former side on the cusp of half-time at Allianz Stadium and marked his strike by staring down The Cove.
If that wasn’t enough, he was soon joined in front of the Sydney FC fan base by teammate Borrello, who mimicked crying in front of the irate Sky Blues support, further igniting a rivalry that didn’t need any more fuel.
Unfortunately for the Wanderers, they could not back up the celebration in the 45 minutes that followed as the half-time introduction of Anas Ouahim changed the game.
The Sky Blues playmaker provided an assist and scored a goal quickly after entering off the bench, leading his side to a 4-2 victory that was capped off with another assist from the Moroccan for striker Patryk Klimala.
Sydney FC have claimed bragging rights for a fourth-straight Sydney Derby, with the Wanderers searching for answers on how to break through against their neighbours.
This Sydney Derby will not be forgotten quickly.
