Steve Corica named Isuzu UTE A-League Coach of the Month

Auckland FC head coach Steve Corica has been named Coach of the Month in the Isuzu UTE A-League for December.

No stranger to this award, the Black Knights boss has taken out the second coaching honour of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season after Sydney FC’s Ufuk Talay scooped the award for October/November.

Corica guided his side to three wins in December as they defeated rivals Wellington Phoenix at Go Media Stadium, before then defeating both Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers on the road.

Currently sat on top of the table, Auckland FC are two points clear of Sydney FC having played 11 times so far this season.

Corica was nominated for the December award via Football Coaches Australia’s monthly nomination process.

Australian Professional Leagues (APL) partnered with FCA in 2022-23 to help provide the recognition required for outstanding coaching performances across both the Isuzu UTE A-League and Ninja A-League.

The FCA assembled an experienced panel that decides the monthly nominees and then subsequent winners for Coach of the Month in both leagues.

The December eligibility period included Rounds 7-10 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season, with games between December 5 and December 31 considered by the FCA Panel when voting for the Coach of the Month nominees.

Corica oversaw three games in the eligibility period and took home maximum points from those matches, whilst their game against Sydney FC – slated for December 27 – was postponed due to an issue with the pitch at Leichhardt Oval.
