Auckland coach Corica goes back-to-back with second Coach of the Month award of the season

Auckland FC head coach Steve Corica has been named December Coach of the Month, after a fan vote.

It’s Corica’s second Coach of the Month award of the season after the Black Knights boss collected the honour for October/November. Corica was nominated for the monthly award alongside Western United’s John Aloisi, Adelaide United head coach Carl Veart and Mile Sterjovski of Macarthur FC, but earned the most votes of any of the four nominated coaches to take out the December award.

MIDWEEK PREVIEW: What you need to know for midweek fixtures in the Isuzu UTE A-League

Corica was nominated for the December award via Football Coaches Australia’s monthly nomination process.

Australian Professional Leagues (APL) partnered with FCA in 2022-23 to give fans a crucial say in recognising outstanding coaching performances across both the Ninja A-League Women and Isuzu UTE A-League Men.

The FCA assembled an experienced panel who together decide the monthly nominees for Coach of the Month in both leagues; a fan vote then decides the winner from the monthly nominees.

The December eligibility period included Rounds 6-10 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season, with results between November 29 and December 29 considered by the FCA Panel when voting for the Coach of the Month nominees.

Corica oversaw five fixtures throughout that period, registering three wins, one draw and one defeat.

Auckland are next in action against Perth Glory at HBF Park on Saturday, January 11.
