Western Sydney Wanderers captain Dimas Delgado has yet to secure his future beyond this season but is hopeful of extending his stay in the Red and Black under Tony Popovic.

The Spanish midfielder is in his second season at the Wanderers and was handed the captain’s armband at the start of the campaign following the departure of Nikolai Topor-Stanley.
 “I’m very happy here,” Dimas told the Daily Telegraph.

“They like me and I like this club and my team. Hopefully we can start to speak soon about my contract. I want to be here, I’m happy, so hopefully we can talk again soon.”
Wanderers’ struggles this season
After falling agonisingly short to a maiden title last season, Western Sydney have slumped to sixth-spot in the league with inconsistency and a poor home record catalysts for a disappointing campaign.
Following an impressive debut season in the Hyundai A-League, Dimas has found life more difficult this time around with Western Sydney winning just five of 22 matches, including a league-high 10 draws.
“We’ve enjoyed it, but that’s not enough,” Dimas said.
“For us it’s been a good season but the results don’t reflect how well we’ve been playing. We’re a bit disappointed in some of the results.”
