Subway Socceroos winger Craig Goodwin said he would consider a return to Adelaide United if the opportunity to make an Isuzu UTE A-League comeback arises.
Goodwin currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Wehda after leaving Adelaide at the end of the 2022-23 season – a campaign which saw the Socceroo crowned the Isuzu UTE A-League’s Johnny Warren Medallist.
Adelaide’s all-time leading goalscorer won the Johnny Warren Medal after scoring 15 goals and supplying 10 assists for the Reds two seasons ago, while he became just the third player in A-League Men history to tally at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a season.

Since returning to Al Wehda, where he previously enjoyed a stint in 2019-20, the 32-year-old has scored eight goals, including two this season.

As the Socceroos prepare for Thursday night’s 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup qualifier against China in Adelaide, Goodwin asked if he was open to returning to Coopers Stadium at the conclusion of his Al Wehda contract in June 2025.
“Yeah, obviously Adelaide holds a special place in my heart and Adelaide United does as well,” Goodwin replied.
“If there’s the opportunity in the future, we will see when that comes.
“But for now, I’ve taken this opportunity to really test myself against some of the best players in the world in a strong competition. I’m enjoying that challenge.
“I have another season to go there and it’s going well. We’ll see what happens. Whether I leave at the end of the season is something to think about but at the moment I’m enjoying myself.”
