“It’s a wonderful opportunity,” Popovic said. “I’m grateful that we’ve got these types of games, playing two [FIFA World Cup 26â„¢] host nations, playing in these conditions.
“Obviously, we have to play in altitude as well in the States, which is a different challenge, which we may be faced with at the World Cup. They’re quality opposition, a lot of international experience, players that are playing regularly at a very high level. So it’s a fantastic test, fantastic challenge, but also a great opportunity for us to play these teams and show what we can do.”

When are the games?
Montreal is the venue for Australia’s opening game in North America, where the Socceroos will meet Canada at Stade Saputo on Saturday, October 11. The game kicks off at 10:30am AEDT.
After the Canadian leg, the Socceroos will go up against the UA at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado on Wednesday, October 15. Kick-off is slated for 12pm AEDT.

Canada and the USA boast plenty of talent in their respective squads.
While Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies remains sidelined for Canada, Jesse Marsch is still able to call upon Juventus forward Jonathan David, Ismael Kone of Sassuolo and Villarreal’s Tajon Buchanan.
World number 26 Canada are also in the midst of a nine-game unbeaten streak following a quarter-final run at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, while they trumped Romania and Wales during the previous international window.

The 16th-ranked USA upstaged Japan 2-0 in September following defeats to South Korea and Mexico.
