On the back of the recent WE ARE FOOTBALL campaign launch, the defender said “fans, alongside players, are the number one stakeholders in the game.”

“Fans provide us with the motivation and inspiration to head into battle,” said the 32-year-old.

WE ARE FOOTBALL is about the things we all share as football fans. Regardless of which club we support, our age, gender, background, nationality or circumstance, football belongs to all of us, we’re all part owners, we’re all fans.”

What are you looking forward to about the start of the new Hyundai A-League season?
Playing for points and striving to win for your team-mates, club and supporters is what football is all about.

Football’s a major part of your life, what does football mean to you?
Playing football is a passion, a love and now at this level, a responsibility. Our role as players is to head out onto the park and entertain all those members of the grassroots community who share our love for football.

Who got you into football?
As a youngster, my family and friends played football as a way of getting together, whether it is on the street or at my junior club.

What’s your favourite football moment?
Taking away all my international caps and the experiences I’ve enjoyed in the green and gold, I would have to say being able to lead a new club, my hometown club, onto the pitch with my son is my WE ARE FOOTBALL moment.

If you are on Twitter don’t forget to keep the #wearefootball hash tag trending Australia wide.
