Newcastle Jets have announced CEO Shane Mattiske is set to depart from his role after four years leading the club.
Mattiske will transition out of the job as owners Maverick Sports Partners begin the search for a new club CEO.
Appointed Executive Chairman of the consortium that took over the club in 2021, Mattiske led the effort to secure new owners for the Jets that resulted in Maverick Sports Partners’ takeover in June, 2024.

Mattiske says the time has come to pass the torch, with Maverick Sports Partners Executive Director Maurice Bisetto set to act as interim CEO while the club continues its search for a successor.
“It is now six months since we locked in new ownership for the club and created a new foundation for the future of the Jets and football in this community,” Mattiske said in a club statement.
“It is truly a great thing to have Maverick Sport Partners behind our club and supporting its growth moving forward. I want to again thank Maurice Bisetto and the broader Jets ownership group for their belief in this club and the potential of this community.
“I also want to acknowledge the significant commitment that our outgoing owners made to supporting our club and backing the shift to a new future for the Jets.
“With the beginning of this new chapter for the club, it is the appropriate time for me pass leadership to Maurice and the new ownership group. The last four years has been an incredible experience and one that, despite some challenging times, I will always value.
“I’ve been privileged to be part of a club that is so important to such a big community and one that has such potential for the future. I will always have the club’s success on my mind and will continue to do whatever I can to support its future.
“I have sincerely valued the relationships that I have built with the club’s members, fans, staff and players, with our great sponsor and partner family and with the football community as a whole. I thank all of this football community for their support through this important chapter of the club’s history and I look forward to being part of this great Jets family into the future.”

“On behalf of Maverick Sports Partners and the community we thank Shane for his contribution to the Newcastle Jets.”
