Schalke have signed Isuzu UTE A-League young gun Dylan Leonard on a five-year contract.
Leonard joins the German giants in the 2.Bundesliga until June 2030 following a breakout season in the A-Leagues.
The highly-rated 18-year-old defender, who is one of the biggest talents in Australian football, took the competition by storm in his debut season as he became Western United‘s youngest ever debutant and goalscorer in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

“I’m delighted to be here and was already able to gather many great impressions on the weekend,” Leonard said.
“The club’s management team laid out a really interesting path during our discussions, which I now want to embark on together.”
Seven-time Bundesliga runners-up, Schalke currently play in Germany’s second tier.
The 1997 UEFA Cup/Europa League winners are seventh in the 2.Bundesliga through five games, three points off the pace.

“We have been able to sign a young and talented centre-back in Dylan,” said Schalke’s director of professional football Youri Mulder.
“We will give him the time he needs to settle in to life in Europe over the coming months.
“He has chosen to take a big step at a very young age. This proves just how ambitious Dylan is in pursuing his goals.”
