Adelaide United captain Ryan Kitto has signed a two-year contract extension set to keep the 30-year-old at the club until the end of the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Kitto’s fresh contract includes an option for a third year that, if activated, would see the versatile right-sided defender remain a Red until mid-2028.

Kitto has made 214 appearances for Adelaide since rejoining the club from Newcastle Jets in 2016. The South Australian-born defender’s first stint at the Reds was as a junior in the club’s youth ranks in 2013-14.
The two-time Australia Cup winner described extending his stay in Adelaide as a privilege and expressed his excitement at the prospect of helping to develop the club’s next generation of young talent in the years to come.
“I feel incredibly privileged to continue playing for my hometown club,” Kitto said.
“I don’t take it for granted, and it’s an honour to wear the captain’s armband and lead this team.
“To be able to commit for another two years is something I’m thrilled about, and I will continue to give everything I can for Adelaide United.
“I also look forward to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of players coming through the ranks.”

Adelaide United head of football Marius Zanin added: “Ryan is part of the Adelaide United DNA and truly understands what it means to represent the Reds.
“He plays an integral role in our leadership team and has much to offer, both on and off the pitch.
“His passion for this Club and commitment to nurturing younger players make him an invaluable asset to our long-term vision,”
Kitto and Adelaide will face Sydney FC next up in the Isuzu UTE A-League at Coopers Stadium on Friday, December 20.
The Reds are currently enjoying their best start to a season in a decade, and are on the cusp of recording an eight-game unbeaten streak to start the 2024-25 campaign – a feat the club hasn’t achieved since 2010-11.
