Round 10 preview: Perth Glory v Sydney FC

It’s bottom against top as Perth Glory host league-leading Sydney FC at Dorrien Gardens on Thursday night.

The Round 10 fixture pits the Sky Blues against the winless Glory as Ante Juric’s side gun for their eighth win from nine games.

Sydney launched a quick response after being handily defeated 4-1 by Brisbane Roar in Round 8 by edging top-four rivals Adelaide United 2-1 in their most recent outing. The result ensured the Sky Blues maintained a gap over the Roar at the top of the Westfield W-League table as the race for the Premiers Plate continues.

Down the other end of the table Perth face a battle of their own to avoid finishing last in the 2020/21 campaign.

With just one point on the board to date Alex Epakis’ side don’t have long to turn their fortunes around, but Perth can look to the 2019/20 season to gain confidence of a late resurgence; three wins from four games to end the previous campaign – including one against the eventual Grand Finalists Sydney – helped Perth make a late surge up the Westfield W-League table and end the season on a high.
