American duo bid Mariners farewell after club’s comeback season: ‘They’ll forever be remembered’

Central Coast Mariners have confirmed Jazmin Wardlow and Rola Badawiya have departed the club at the conclusion of their respective Liberty A-League contracts.

Both from the United States, Wardlow and Badawiya joined the club ahead of their return to the Liberty A-league after 15 years; Badawiya, a striker, started all but one of the Mariners league fixtures, scored eight goals and assisted two more. The 26-year-old scored for the Mariners against Sydney FC in the Semi-Finals.

Wardlow, meanwhile, played a key role in the Mariners’ defence in 2023-24; like Badawiya the centre-back started all but one of the club’s 25 games throughout the season.

The American duo are the first two departures confirmed by the club this off-season. Mariners head coach Emily Husband thanked both players for their contribution to the club’s historic Liberty A-League season.

“Everyone at Central Coast Mariners thanks both Jaz and Rola for the part that they played in our 23-24 season. They will forever be remembered as important members of our first squad back in the Liberty A-League,” Husband said.

“We wish them both the best in the next stages of their footballing journey.”
