Ever-present Brisbane Roar defender Jade North says his side’s taxing schedule is no excuse for their underwhelming 2-1 defeat to Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.
The hosts slipped two goals behind after an hour at Suncorp Stadium before a late rally fell short of earning a draw.

Despite the clash marking their eighth match in 28 days, North is adamant Brisbane’s nomadic month is no justification for the unexpected defeat.
“No excuses. The travel doesn’t matter,” North told Fox Sports.
“We had our opportunities … we just haven’t been putting them away.
“I think we started off sloppy and there were patches in the game where we can really look at ourselves and say it was sloppy.
“We’ve just got to get on with it.”
Roar appeared on course to snatch a point when Brandon Borrello curled a fine effort inside the far post but an equaliser failed to materialise in the remaining 15 minutes as their Hyundai A-League winless run reached four matches.
North commended Wellington’s grit in holding out the home side.
“They really put up a fight and probably deserved it because they ended up putting the goals away,” the veteran defender said.
