Released gloveman returns to Sydney FC

Sydney FC has re-signed goalkeeper Ivan Necevski on a one year deal for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

Necevski will return to the club after playing the last seven seasons with the Sky Blues, with Head Coach Graham Arnold deciding an extended schedule and potential international call-ups for young keeper Anthony Bouzanis required extra cover.

“We let Ivan go at the end of last season but having looked at our fixture schedule, the travel in our Asian Champions League campaign and potential international duty for Anthony Bouzanis who has been excellent in pre-season, we felt we needed an extra pair of hands between the sticks,” he said.

“Ivan is the perfect choice as he knows the club well, he’s an extremely well liked and respected member of the dressing room and has been in great form for Rockdale City Suns in the FFA Cup and New South Wales Premier League.

“With such a long season ahead it’s fantastic to have three quality keepers on our books challenging each other for their spots.”

Necevski said he was excited about returning for an eighth season with the club.

“I’m very happy to be returning to this great club and to be back among my second family.  I’m looking forward to continuing my relationship with the players, the coaching staff and those wonderful supporters.

“I’ve always had hope that I would return to Sydney FC and have worked hard over the off-season.

“I’ve felt really good playing for Rockdale this year and I’m looking forward to working under John Crawley and learning and improving with him.”

Necevski will link up with the Sydney FC first team squad once his Westfield FFA Cup commitments with Rockdale City Suns are complete.
