ADELAIDE United stalwart Michael Marrone has called time on his second Reds stay, joining NPL SA outfit Sturt Lions FC.
The defender departs the club with 193 total appearances to his name, second only to Eugene Galekovic in total league appearances for the Reds.
At 34 years of age, Marrone takes 230 games of A-League experience accrued at both Adelaide and Melbourne City to Sturt Lions, along with three FFA Cup titles and a Premiership/Championship double earned with the Reds in the 2015/16 A-League campaign.

Speaking to the club website, Marrone revealed how fortunate he felt to have plied his trade for his hometown club over 10 A-League seasons.
“I think when I started with the club, I had no idea I was going to stay at the club for this long,” he said.
“I’m really grateful I got to play the majority of my career at Adelaide in my hometown.
“There were a lot of highs along the way – the Premiership comes to mind, all the FFA Cups. My memories sort of combine into one, and I only have positive things to say about the club.”

“Now that I’m leaving Adelaide United, I look back on my time at the club and have to say I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have spent so much time here,” Marrone added.
“Being fortunate enough to spend most of my career playing in front of my friends and family each week and having the success with this Club has been a dream come true.
“I’m proud of what my teammates and I have achieved together and these memories will stay with me forever.”
