Perth make double swoop for talented teenagers incl. former Wanderer who’s an NPL superstar

Perth Glory have added teenage duo Ella Abdul-Massih and Sarah O’Donoghue to their ranks ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

Abdul-Massih has joined Perth after three seasons with Western Sydney Wanderers; the teenager made 21 Liberty A-League appearances for the team but will continue her development in Western Australia, having signed for Glory under the club’s new head coach Stephen Peters.

The 18-year-old is an exciting signing for Perth and Peters will hope to unlock her full potential in purple and orange – potential which has been on full display in recent months in the NPLW NSW. Abdul-Massih joined NWS Spirit nine rounds into the season and has since scored nine times for the club, and won the league’s Midfielder of the Month award for July.

The former Wanderer is joined in Perth by O’Donoghue who, after a season at Brisbane Roar, has made the switch to Glory ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League campaign. The central midfielder is a product of Football Queensland Academy, and made her league debut for Brisbane against Melbourne Victory in Round 1 last season.

Glory head coach Peters hopes both Abdul-Massih and O’Donoghue – two emerging talents thriving at NPL clubs – can begin to show the best of their abilities in the Liberty A-League throughout their time in Perth.

“Ella is a great young prospect who has been performing exceptionally well in the NPL NSW,” Peters said.

“We’re looking forward to giving her the opportunity to really fulfil her potential at Perth Glory.

“Sarah is similar in that she has absolutely taken the NPL Victoria by storm this season having had a bit of an ALW opportunity with Brisbane Roar.

“We now want to see her bring that NPL form into the A-League and we’re sure she is capable of doing that.”
