Nine days, nine signings! Glory land Wales international in final act of rapid recruitment drive

Perth Glory have signed Wales international winger Megan Wynne on a two-year deal ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.

The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the Liberty A-League, having played her club football at Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Watford, Millwall, Bristol City and Charlton Athletic throughout her career.

A regular in the Wales international squad since her debut against Turkey in 2013, Wynne’s arrival at Glory from Southampton takes the Liberty A-League club’s recent signing spree up to nine new arrivals in the space of nine days.

The Welsh winger has joined Gabby Hollar, Naomi Chinnama, Ella Abdul-Massih, Sarah O’Donoghue, Tijan McKenna, Ischia Brooking, Onyinyechi Zogg and Kelli Brown as the ninth new recruit to be confirmed by Glory under new head coach Stephen Peters, who has backed Wynne to provide premium service off the wings for Perth’s strikers to feast on in the new Liberty A-League season.

“Megan is a vastly experienced winger who has the appetite and ability to beat defenders and deliver quality crosses into the box,” Peters said.

“I’m sure our strikers will thrive upon the service she’ll provide from wide areas and that our members and fans will really enjoy watching her in action.

“Megan is another key addition to our squad and we look forward to her making a major impact for the club this year.”

Besides a brief spell in the United States at East Tennessee State Buccaneers, Wynne has played the majority of her club career in England. The experienced winger says the opportunity to test herself abroad in the Liberty A-League was an impossible one to turn down.

“For most of my career I’ve played within England and therefore I know now that I’m ready for a new challenge and to test myself in a new league,” she said.

“I’ve always looked at the A-League from afar and thought it would be somewhere I would love to play my football. So when the opportunity came to join Perth Glory, I was over the moon and there was no way I could turn it down.

“I’m so excited to have Perth as my home for the next two seasons and I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and all the staff.

“I’m looking forward to showing the fans what I can bring to the squad, as well as continuing to learn and develop.

“I’ll give my everything to make sure this season is a successful one.”

Wynne’s signature caps off a busy four days for Perth, which has included five new signings and six re-signings.
