Patrick Kisnorbo’s next destination confirmed after Melbourne Victory exit: Details

Former Melbourne Victory head coach Patrick Kisnorbo has been appointed assistant coach at Japanese J1 League club Yokohama F. Marinos, following his shock departure from Melbourne Victory.

Kisnorbo will serve new under manager Steve Holland at the Japanese club where fellow Australians Ange Postecoglou, Kevin Muscat, Harry Kewell, John Hutchinson, Peter Cklamovski, Shaun Ontong, Arthur Papas, Ross Aloisi and Harry Kewell have all spent time in recent years, either as head coaches or assistant coaches.

Kisnorbo’s appointment at Marinos followed his sudden exit from Melbourne Victory in mid-December; having committed to a three-year deal as Victory head coach in pre-season, Kisnorbo left the role just seven league games into his first season in charge of the Isuzu UTE A-League outfit.

“I am excited to be joining Yokohama F. Marinos,” Kisnorbo said in a club statement.

“I look forward to supporting Manager Steve Holland as he strives for success on the pitch and fosters a culture of excellence and teamwork with talented players, dedicated staff and passionate fans and supporters. I can’t wait to begin this incredible journey with everyone.”

With his move to Marinos, Kisnorbo has returned to working within the City Football Group following stints as head coach at Melbourne City and French club ES Troyes.
