Olyroos remain unbeaten at U23 tournament as A-Leagues rising stars contribute to UAE draw

A Subway Olyroos squad brimming with Isuzu UTE A-League talent drew 0-0 with the United Arab Emirates in the Doha International Under-23 Cup on Sunday morning (AEDT).

Ten of the 11 starters in the goalless draw currently play in the A-Leagues, with US Lecce defender Sebastian Esposito the only overseas-based Olyroo picked in head coach Trevor Morgan’s XI to face UAE.

The Olyroos came into the second game of the tournament after a 2-1 win over Croatia and kept their unbeaten start alive against UAE.

Ethan Cox (Adelaide United) started in goal for Australia in an XI featuring Kealey Adamson (Macarthur Bulls), Adrian Segecic (Sydney FC), Anthony Pantazopoulous (Western Sydney Wanderers), Aidan Simmons (Western Sydney Wanderers), Matthew Grimaldi (Western United), Jing Reec (Melbourne Victory), Aydan Hammond (Western Sydney Wanderers), Clayton Taylor (Newcastle Jets) and Corey Hollman (Sydney FC) who captained the side.

After the 0-0 draw, the Olyroos will shift focus to a clash with Qatar on Tuesday night to round out the Doha International Under-23 Cup.
