Alou Kuol is in the Olyroos squad alongside brother Garang as Tony Vidmar confirmed his 24-player roster for the prestigious Maurice Revello Tournament.
Former Central Coast Mariners forward Alou Kuol, who is now playing for Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart, was one of five train-on selections which initially included Aidan Coyne, Zak Gilsenan, Jahce Novello and Caleb Watts.
But the 21-year-old has earned a spot in the final squad as Australia’s Under-23 side prepare to kick-off their tournament on Tuesday.

Isuzu UTE A-League champions Jacob Farrell and Nectar Triantis via Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City’s Grand Final participants Marco Tilio and Callum Talbot will miss the opening match against Qatar due to Saturday’s decider.
Western Sydney Wanderers star Calem Nieuwenhof, Adelaide United duo Louis D’Arrigo and Ethan Cox, Perth Glory goalkeeper Cameron Cook, Western United forward Noah Botic, Brisbane Roar defender Jordan Courtney-Perkins, Macarthur FC’s Jake Hollman, Lucas Mauragis of Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Victory’s Nishan Velupillay are also in the team.
The Maurice Revello Tournament is usually for players from U20 and U21 national teams, but has been extended this year to include players born between 2001-2004 to accommodate preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Australia will play at least four matches in the tournament from June 6-18, taking part in Group B of the 12-nation tournament and facing Qatar (June 6), Mediterranean Select (June 9) and Mexico (June 12).
Togo were initially in the group when the draw took place in March, but they have since withdrawn and been replaced by a “Mediterranean Select” team featuring players from professional clubs in the Mediterranean region.
This will be the first time Australia have fielded a team at the tournament since its inception in 1967.
France won the last tournament in 2022 – which was their 13th crown – after seeing off Venezuela in the final of a tournament where Manchester United sensation Alejandro Garnacho won the award for ‘Revelation Player’.
The tournament has showcased some of the best young players previously, including one of the all-time greats Cristiano Ronaldo (2003), France legend Thierry Henry (1997), Jean-Pierre Papin (1985), England great Alan Shearer (1991), Portugal’s Rui Costa (1992), Juan Romain Riquelme (1998), United’s Antony (2022), Celtic’s Reo Hatate (2022), Argentina legend Javier Mascherano (2003) and former France captain Hugo Lloris (2006).
