Macarthur Bulls have announced a three-year contract extension for young defender Oliver Jones, tying the 21-year-old to the club until the end of the 2027-28 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Jones has excelled through the opening phase of the 2024-25 campaign, making six appearances (all starts) as a pivotal figure in Macarthur’s defence. A product of Macarthur’s academy, Jones had made just five starts in his two prior seasons at the club but has been a mainstay in head coach Mile Sterjovski’s backline since Round 7.

“I’m buzzing,” he said, after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract extension.

“Being at the club for a few years now, and to re-sign with a three-year contract is great for me. It’s a proud moment, and I think it’s a step in the right direction for my career.”

“I’m happy with the games I’ve had, but there’s still a lot to learn from each game and training I just need to keep moving in the right direction.”

“My goals and expectations are to get consistency on the field, play good minutes, perform, help the team, add value, get as many clean sheets as I can, and just do my bit to help the team win games.”
